What is a HP error code 49
When a HP printer crashes with a 49 error code, it indicates the operating system and/or a solution running inside the printer has experienced a crash.
Examples: Error 49.38.13, 49.38.14
The only solution is to reboot the printer.
Identifying the root cause, fixing the HP Error 49 crash
The root cause can vary and the following procedure will help you identify it.
- Verify the BarDIMM Pro version you are using is compatible with the HP firmware. Get the firmware revision on the printer status page, and read that page on BarDIMM Pro versions.
As a rule, you should always run the latest BarDIMM Pro version with the latest compatible printer firmware. - Always upgrade BarDIMM Pro then the printer firmware, not the other way around. Each printer needs a BarDIMM Maintenance & Support contract from Jetmobile to benefit from BarDIMM Pro software upgrades.
- If the problem happens after you upgraded the printer firmware and BarDIMM Pro is already with a compatible version, the crash may be due to corrupted files during the firmware upgrade process. This particularly happens if you skipped many firmware upgrades. In that cas you need to perform a “Partial Clean” process, documented here: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05079497#CLEAN
- If none of those solution fixed the crash, it is recommended to contact your closest HP service center and get a diagnostic
